Platelet-Rich Fibrin Treatment – Henderson, NV

Facilitating Your Mouth’s Healing Naturally

When you have oral surgery of any kind, your mouth requires time to heal. The exact amount depends on you and your body, but there’s a way to encourage this natural process to move along. Platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) found in your blood contains growth factors that kick off recovery and prevent complications in the aftermath. Just as a scab allows the tissues underneath to regenerate after a wound, PRF gives your oral tissues an opportunity to produce new, healthy tissue while protecting them from infection. What Is PRF?

From your own blood, beneficial healing properties can be accessed and optimized. PRF consists primarily of stem cells, white blood cells, and platelets, all of which help with recovery. White blood cells fight off infection, and platelets and stem cells facilitate rapid recovery with growth factors that stimulate the natural process.

How Does PRF Treatment Work?

Before we begin any treatment, we take a small sample of your blood. When this vial of your blood is put into a centrifuge and spun, the blood begins to separate into various layers. At a certain speed, platelet-rich fibrin is isolated and forms a blood clot, creating a higher concentration of white blood cells, stem cells, and platelets than regular blood. Then, when your surgical procedure is complete, this part of your blood is returned to the surgical site, and because of its content, PRF treatment starts the healing process right out of the gate and signals to the body to heal quickly.

Benefits of PRF Treatment

In addition to accelerating the body’s natural process of healing, PRF comes with several benefits. When a patient receives PRF treatment, they don’t have to worry about negative reactions—it’s derived from their own blood and is perfectly safe for use in basically any oral surgical procedure. With PRF, patients are less likely to encounter complications, such as infection, and more likely to experience success with jawbone grafting, osseointegration of the implant, or other similar goals. In other words, PRF can take a complex situation and make it simpler and more direct to proper healing.
